The Origin of the GuideStar Way
A practical system built from research,
fieldwork, and experience
GuideStar’s co-founders, Dr. Ray Benedetto and Steve Fallek, believed meaningful change would require more than ideas alone. It would require equipping the professionals who influence organizations every day with the right mindset, tools, and design for long-term success.
That belief led to the creation of The GuideStar Way — a practical system designed to help HR and Organizational Development professionals work closely with clients to develop leaders who build cultures of Character-Based Capitalism.
The system grew out of Ray’s doctoral research on the impact of character on business performance, along with field research inside high-performing organizations across diverse industries. From that work emerged the Four Pillars of Character-Based Capitalism, which now anchor the GuideStar Way and its approach to organizational transformation.

Dr. Ray Benedetto brings more than four decades of leadership and transformation experience spanning the military, government, education, and business. He later led major corporate transformation efforts in healthcare and insurance and co-founded GuideStar to help organizations strengthen leadership, culture, and performance.

Steve Fallek brings deep expertise in change leadership, strategic planning, and performance management. He held executive leadership roles with CNA Insurance, Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, and Zurich Insurance, and co-founded GuideStar to help leaders achieve sustained growth and profitability through Character-Based Capitalism.
